The mission of the FHS Concert Band is to educate and enrich the lives of students through increased aesthetic awareness and instrumental performance.  Our repetoire includes classic literature in the concert band idiom from such concert-band heavyweights as Alfred Reed, W. Francis McBeth, and Clare Grundman, as well as masterpieces from J. S. Bach and newer works from contemporary composers.

This course will primarily address the following standards from the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for the Arts:
    Standard 2: Reading and Notation - Students will read music written in standard notation.
    Standard 3: Playing Instruments - Students will play instruments, alone and with others, to perform a varied repertoire of music.
    Standard 5: Critical Response - Students will describe and analyze their own music and the music of others using appropriate music vocabulary. When appropriate, students will connect their analysis to interpretation and evaluation.
